Phil Williams (bass)

Phil played with Saiichi from 1992 to 1996 and was a catalyst in putting together the Saiichi Sugiyama Band #1. His jazzy and funky bass playing, which underpinned Saiichi's music on stage and in the studio, is heard on Saiichi's 1994 album.

Born to a professional jazz bass player father in 1962, Phil started playing the bass at a very early age. He attended the jazz musician course at Chichester College at the age of 18 and has been playing professionally since. Phil worked and toured with many bands including Walk On Fire (RCA America), Kim Wilde, Helen Hofner (East West), Anthony Harwood, The Dan Band, and Airstream as well as various TV and theatre work. He has recently been working with Craig David on his second album.
