"Funky
Paul" Olsen (drums)
In late 1969 Paul sold his successful
and famous psychedelic poster company, FUNKY
FEATURES
in the Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco and moved to London, playing with many
UK bands and power trios including Snake Eyes, Alan Bown, Atlas, Sidewinder,
Third World War, the Flirtations, Zeus, and Graham Bond until his death; plus
sharing the stage with musicians like Jimmy McCulloch, Jimmy Cliff, Gary Moore,
Eric Clapton, Gary Brooker, and Paul Rogers. Paul played with many pick-up blues
bands of the period and also with the soul band Chairmen of the Board for their
UK tours who wanted him to move to Detroit to shake things up back there. Paul
has designed 7 of Robin Trower's album covers, including Robin's classic Bridge
of Sighs album.

He moved to LA in 1975 and got involved
in the film business by being hired to airbrush all the surface detail in pearlescent
colours on the Starship Enterprise for the first Star Trek movie; then designed
effects for that movie, Bladerunner, 2010, Close Encounters, and Brainstorm.
He began designing main titles, among them The Abyss and Terminator 2 for James
Cameron. Paul moved back to the UK in 1991 to be close to his baby son who lived
here, and placed an ad in the MM which Saiichi spotted. Paul joined Bluewater
in 1992 and played off and on with Saiichi and friends for the next 7 years
until he moved back to California in 1999. He now lives in LA and has just published
The Book of Love and is writing screenplays and children's books, as well as
putting together "The Sunset Strippers" rock n' roll showband. Badda-boom.
